THEMUSEUM is a cultural destination within Waterloo Region that celebrates Art, Science, and Technology. Located in downtown Kitchener, the venue hosts world-renown traveling exhibits, offers a variety of exhibit-themed workshops, guided interactive tours for school visits, as well as a café, and children’s exploratory area.
While its programs have been abundantly successful, THEMUSEUM has been constantly challenged with limited space in which to execute its exhibits. At times, this has resulted in other program areas being closed to provide the additional storage and staging space required.

This has prompted THEMUSEUM to commission a feasibility study to explore the potential of expanding its current venue into an adjacent building and determine the best way to integrate and maximize the additional space.

The new space would include expanded galleries with proper storage and staging areas, a 120-seat lecture theatre, food and merchandise services, and a larger children's exploratory component. There would also be a variety of upgrades to the existing facility’s support services including the addition of a large elevator to accommodate shipping crates for exhibition material.
